The Pause Trio®

Much of life runs on autopilot, making it easy to reach the end of the day wondering where it went.

The Pause Trio® is a simple practice built around three gentle cues woven into the natural transitions of the day—tiny invitations to pause, notice, and return to the present moment.

Morning · 7–10 a.m.
Midday · 12–3 p.m.
Evening · 5–8 p.m.

Choose one time within each window that naturally fits your life, and let them become your personal pause cues.

Grounded in the science of habits, circadian rhythms, and energy shifts throughout the day, the Pause Trio® offers a simple daily rhythm to help you experience life more fully.

THREE PAUSES A DAY
TO experience life more fully

Feel like you're missing your life?

Not because you're broken or need to fix yourself.
Just because life moves quickly.

The Pause Trio® offers three gentle pause cues throughout the day, inviting you to slow down just enough to notice what matters, respond to what you need, and experience everyday life more fully.

The simplest way to experience the Pause Trio® is to pause once during each of the three daily pause windows.

Morning · 7–10 a.m.
Midday · 12–3 p.m.
Evening · 5–8 p.m.

Choose one time within each window that naturally fits your schedule, and let it become your personal pause cue. For example, your rhythm might be 8:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. The specific times matter less than choosing times that work naturally for you.

There’s nothing you have to accomplish.
Nothing you have to get right.

Just pause.
Notice what you notice.
Then continue with your day.

Whether your pause happens in nature, during movement, over a cup of tea, or in the middle of an ordinary moment, the Pause Trio® is designed to fit into real life—not become another task on your to-do list.

Over time, these tiny pauses can help you experience more of the life that’s already happening around you.

Simply Pause

Much of life happens on autopilot. Days pass. Schedules fill. Tasks get completed. Yet we often move from one moment to the next without noticing how we're feeling, what we need, or what matters most.

A pause creates space. Space to notice. Space to feel. Space to choose. Space to be present.

Tiny pauses may seem insignificant, yet over time they can change how we relate to ourselves, others, and everyday life.

Why Pause?

Life doesn’t happen all at once.
It unfolds over the course of an entire day.

As the hours pass, our energy, attention, experiences, and needs naturally change. A morning pause offers a chance to begin with intention. By midday, it’s easy to become absorbed in work, responsibilities, and the pace of the day. By evening, many of us reach the end of the day without ever pausing to notice how we’re doing—or how much of the day has simply passed by.

One pause can change a moment.
Three pauses create a rhythm for the day.

By weaving three pause cues into the natural flow of your day, the Pause Trio® creates regular opportunities to notice what’s changed, respond to what you need, and experience more of the life that’s already happening around you.

A Pause Path

One path to practice
the Pause Trio® is to
Resource, Reset, and Reflect

Morning · 7–10 am

Midday · 12–3 pm

Evening · 5–8 pm

A pause to arrive.
To ground and orient.
To check in with your body, heart, mind, and energy.
To resource your day with greater awareness and intention.

A pause to reset.
To interrupt autopilot.
To check in with how the day is unfolding.
To make any adjustments needed moving forward.

A pause to look back.
To acknowledge, appreciate, and reinforce what matters.
To celebrate the joys, tiny wins, and meaningful moments of the day.

During a conversation with my stepdad about the challenge of building consistent pause practices into everyday life, he shared a memory of a classic Dr. Pepper marketing campaign that encouraged people to enjoy the drink at three specific times each day:

"Drink a bite to eat at 10, 2, and 4."

A lightbulb went off.
The idea was simple: rhythms stick.
People need cues. Time is universal.

What if those same principles could be used—not to remind people to drink a soda—but to pause?

That question sparked the creation of the Pause Trio®: three flexible time windows that gently invite moments to pause throughout the day.

Morning · 7–10 a.m.
Midday · 12–3 p.m.
Evening · 5–8 p.m.

No catchy slogan required.
Sugary drinks optional.

Inspiration from an unlikely place.

There is no one right way to practice The Pause Trio.

Start Where You Are

Miss a pause? Begin again.
Feeling resistant? Begin again.

Your schedule changes? Begin again.
The intention is not to add more to your day.

It's about becoming more present in the day you're already living.
Three opportunities to slow down and notice.
One tiny pause moment at a time.

Because life isn't happening somewhere else.
It's happening here.
